Trades and kitchens

United States

Construction, remodeling, parking lots, delivery routes. Then kitchens: Wingstop, Cuban and Italian. A kitchen on a Friday night teaches what an outage teaches: prioritize, do not freeze, get the plate out. You read a system differently once you have carried it.

Education

Computer engineering

University of Camagüey · five years

Informatics and exact sciences over five years. Where the trade started, and where I learned to sit with a problem until it moved. I became a father in my fourth year — exams and a newborn in the same week. Nothing since has felt busy.

The line

I grew up in Florida, Camagüey, a small town in the middle of Cuba. We moved often enough that I lost count of the schools; the studying stuck. After the radar center I packed one suitcase for the United States — new country, no contacts, no shortcuts. The trade came with me.

Free software was the night workshop the whole time. Job site or kitchen line, I am still a sysadmin in my head.
